Anybody in the Denver metro to help with a fuel bowl rebuild?

My Ex has developed a bit of a raw fuel smell at idle, more so when cold. Looks like there is fuel residue around the fuel bowl drain valve and there is fuel in the engine valley. I'm guessing it is time to replace the fuel bowl and drain valve o-rings? I do not have access to a garage to work in and I'm new to diesel's so I'm looking for a little help with this. Anybody in the Denver, CO metro or a little further out east (I'm near Bennett) who would not mind giving me a hand? Any help would be much appreciated.

Rick has you sorted, now all you need to do is order the o-rings from guzzle (he owns dieselorings.com) and you'll have them quick. Guzzle (Bob) lives up in Greeley, and with it being Saturday, you'll have to wait until Monday or Tuesday for the parts, but once you have them, it'll take you maybe an hour to do it. It's not difficult at all, just cramped down in there. Take your time is the best advice I can give. I really do wish I was (back) in CO to help you out.

Thanks for the link and the words of encouragement. I'm a little nervous about digging into this thing. Other then around the bowl drain valve, I can't tell where the leak is at. With 170k miles should I do all of the bowl o-rings and seals or just do the drain valve?

Just the drain valve since that's the common leak point. It's super easy to do.

I'm in the metro area (Parker), but I don't know if I'll have time to help anyone until after Thanksgiving sometime. I'm swamped with work and school, and it's driving me nuts. If you do have issues, post up here and we can help. If you're nervous about tackling it on your own, let me know and I can try to figure out a good time.

Mine has 167k on it and I've replaced the fuel drain o-rings b/c they were leaking and the turbo pedestal o-rings because I removed the turbo and they should be replaced every time. I think you'll be fine just doing the drain valve o-rings.

Yeah, this is crazy time of the year with the holidays and such coming up. My only free night this upcoming week is next Friday night. I'm not that far from you in SE Aurora (Southlands) so if you need a hand, let me know via PM. I've never swapped the o-rings myself but Guzzle's instructions seem pretty straight forward.

Since it looks like I should do just the drain valve o-rings to start I think I can tackle that myself. I was a little apprehensive about pulling the fuel bowl but the drain valve stuff looks pretty straight forward. Thanks for the offers of help, much appreciated. One last noobie question, should I get the black or brown replacement o-rings? I do not run bio diesel.

Get the blue ones. They're the best, and only a couple of bucks more. Military jet engine grade.

You'll likely NEVER have to do the job again.
