Supercab is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE. Supercab is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Wink Cruise switch recall letter

I just got one and was under the impression that the Diesels use a different type setup than gas jobs-wonder why Ford would send me a letter then since THEY know my truck is a 7.3

I have been to the dealer three time regarding this recall. I get the same response, it is only for gassers. Guess I will go to the parts man and get the part myself. The last time there, they changed the CPS without my permission. Did not know it. When I went back and complained about it, it was a brushoff. They would not even give me a replacement for it. That new CPS is causing a whole lot more problems than people realize. The major problem that I have noticed on mine is less power. I guess it is retarding the injector timing a bit.

The wife & I got our recall letters in the mail today. If you want a copy Paul, let me know. I can scan and email it to you. I doubt they'll pay attention to the name on the letter, and it will give you something to walk into the dealer with.

Ya, I got one too. It's still sitting on the counter, I can't decide whether to go in for it or not. Don't want them to reflash the computer, swap CPS or anything like that; and I'm afraid they will if I take it in. I see the sticky, but's full of chit chat and I can't find out if it truly is for the diesel trucks too or not.

Keith, you must have missed all the links that have been posted.

Here's one I grabbed off the 'net for you.

Ford recalls 4.5 million vehicles for faulty switch | detnews.com | The Detroit News#

Quote:
The new recall includes:
• 1995-2003 model year Ford Windstar
2000-2003 Ford Excursion diesels
1993-1997 and 1999-2003 Ford F-Super Duty diesel
• 1992-2003 Ford Econoline
• 1995-2002 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer
• 1995-1997 and 2001-2003 Ford Ranger
• 1994 Ford F53 Motor home vehicles equipped with the Texas Instruments speed control deactivation.
As for reflashing your PCM, just put a lock on your OBD II port so they can't plug in. And find someone with a grey CPS, swap it into your truck for the visit, then swap back with the person after your recall stuff has been done.

I am also hesitant to take mine in, I think I will just get the part and do it my self, cant be that hard if the dealer can do it!

It's what I plan on doing before I take my truck and my Excursion in.

I "borrowed" Nolans grey CPS, just so my OASIS will show the recal has been done after they swap it out and enter the info into the database.

Thanks for the offer. Go ahead and send it. If my truck burns down because Bert Wolfe won't do the recall, then I will have their ass in the sling.

I also like the idea of drilling a hole on the port and putting a lock across it to keep those buzzards from doing anything I don't want them to. I wanted to kick them when they put the supposed "New and Upgraded" CPS on it and wont give me the old one. Guess I will have to get with my parts buddy there and see if he can find one of the black ones.

Big Poppa, just remember, "I Be The Instigator!" It is my job to crack people up, screw with their minds and to instigate **** to keep the mods on my ass!
