driver side tailgate latch!

Hey guys is there any place I could find a cheap replacement latch for my tailgate. OR can I somehow fix mine. When you close the two little clamps they done click shut. They are $90 new. I am in college and laid off. Need front u-joints, steering box, ball joints. Dont have the money for the latch. But it would be nice for my window to go down without me having to hit the tailgate first!!! I swear I am trying to fabricate a way to manually put the stupid window down. What a f-ing stupid idea!! You are screwed when the window is stuck!!

junkyard. as far as the window you could temporally jumper the safety switch to use the window. I do not suggest by-passing the switch for long. doing so is only asking for a broken window. then you go from $90 repair to $300

It may seem stupid considering your circumstances but trust me, as Aciancio said, fixing the interlock beats hell out of having to replace the window. Are you certain it is the latch mechanism itself and not striker bolt alignment? I only ask because of your comment about having to smack the tailgate. If hitting the gate makes the interlock work, often the issue lies in the area of striker/latch alignment. If the striker bolt has shifted or the nylon bushing around it has disintegrated, its a good possibility that fixing that will resolve you interlock switch problems. without havig to replace the latch at all.

Yeah I am sure it is the latch. The little clamps dont click and lock closed. Just have other things to buy besides that. Found a latch at the junkyard for $78. I should just buy a new one for $90. Sucks!!!
