If you are doing a restoration, then will you be replacing that later model for 9" rear axle with an original? That angle iron crossmember behind the axle also did not come from the factory. For safety I'd suggest replacing the brake lines with ones the correct length and redo the flex line to the rear axle.
I see you are/did replace the engine with a porsche diesel engine. That's an interesting enginge choice, I doubt most of us even know porsche ever made diesel engines much less ever saw one. Tell us more about what the engine came out of, what type transmission you are using and add some pictures of the engine and where you are on the swap.
So you are actually doing what we call a "resto-rod", original looking on the outside with more modern running gear underneath. NICE!

I have two 1950 Ford F1 frames and both of them have a angle iron rivited behind the rear end. I believe it may be there to support the spare tire.

Is that the diesel engine you are using, out of a tractor??? That would really be unique!

OH, sorry your signature at the bottom of your posts says:
1948 Ford F1 Pickup 1960 Porsche Diesel so I assumed that meant you were putting a 1960 Porsche deisel engine in your truck.

I second that angle iron. I have a 49 F1 parts truck and it's there as well.

Cpt. Phil, you must have high standards, that looks like a mighty clean truck! Even the back of the running boards looks solid, that is a "usual place" for cancer.

Ditto on the angle iron, the spare snugs up against it.
