what oil do you run

I was wondering what weight of oil you were running in your fe. I had been running 20-50 in it since it was old and dad said to run it. I am thinking thst might be a little thick. I am thinking of going with 10-40 next time

I only use 10W30 in my vehicles, used to use 10W40 but it is not as available as it used to be. Any ol HD 10W30 should do.

Please look at your oil pressure when the engine is warm with the current oil. Then switch to one of the lower viscosities and check your oil pressure again. Can you post it? (you need a guage) I can tell you my experience, but I dont want to bias you. Me and some bud's have a theory about this topic.

It has the stock guage in it. When it is hot it is usually about straight up in the center

Yep, much more important than the difference between 20-50 and 10-40 is that you don't use the new-type low ZDDP oils with your flat-tappet cam- avoid any oil with a GF-4 rating. Valvoline VR-1 is also a good high ZDDP oil that's available at Kragen, etc.
