E4OD Question

I'm installing an E4OD in an '83 F100. I have a question about the operation of the Overdrive switch and LED on the dash.

The LED is turned on by the OCIL & TML signal from the EEC-IV ECU.

Does that LED indicate that OD is engaged, or simply that it has been enabled? In other words does the LED go off when the trans is in a gear other than OD, even though the OD switch is in the on position?
Or does the LED go on whenever the OD switch is in the 'ON' position regardless of the gear of the transmission?

The LED will be on after the EEC-IV receives a signal from the switch to disable overdrive. The light being on indicates that the trans will only operate in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears. 4th gear is overdrive.

The light will be on in all gears and all shifter positions. It will stay on until the button is pressed again or the key is turned off.

OK, the OD Button is a momentary contact, not an ON-OFF switch, and the LED indicates OD off state.

Thanks.
