I was wondering if you have any simple sugestions for making my rig theft resistant. I'd like to just unplug somthing so it can't be stolen. I temporarrraly have to park it in Phoenix where auto theft is high. What connection would you disconnect?

Assuming you realize that if someone wants your ride badly enough, he/she's gonna get it: just try disconnecting the negative battery terminal under the hood.
Only negative price you'll pay with this approach is the temporary loss of radio stations, trans info & similar -- but these are easily "re-learned" once you reconnect & drive away [takes ~10 miles to relearn the trans info]. But the approach is quick & only requires a 10mm wrench to accomplish....
Pull the fuse to the fuel pump. Look in your owners manual which fuse is for the fuel pump and pull it. When you return put the fuse back in and be on your way. Just put the fuse someplace where it can't be seen and you only know where it is.

Underhood in the high-amp fusebox, there's usually a fuse for the PCM. Pull it from that slot, and just move it to another unoccupied slot so it's where you can get to it and not lose it. No power to the PCM=no start,no matter what they do.

That's what I do when I don't want it to start. Johnny is right too, pull the PCM fuse, same result.
I doubt any thief is going to go under the hood looking at fuses when they can't get the truck to start. They MIGHT, but ... doubtful.
For my '96 t-bird, or '97 cougar, I reach inside the trunk area, behind the mat inside the left fender, and pull the connector for the inertia switch.

I was just curious the 2008 model have PATS, but I don't know if a thief can bypass the system. I searched the web but I can't find any information on how effective the system is. Searching this website it looks like these trucks are easy to break into. The idea of using the keypad on the door and locking the key inside defeats the best part of the antitheft system. ( I do this at the lake etc.)

The PATS system works very well-the PCM WILL NOT allow the engine to start unless the correct key is in the ignition. Not just inside the vehicle,in the ignition switch. The proximity sensor for the PATS system is a very short range device, and looks for the key's transponder at the steering column. No transponder key=no start.
