2003 6.0 Smokin Like a Chimney

Just performed EGR Delete to eliminate White/Grey Smoke.

Did not work, went for Cheapest fix first,. (96k) Drives fine has plenty of power No noticable water consumtion, No frothy oil. When vehicle warms up starts smokin white/Grey even at idle but worse under load. Only after warm is it real Noticable.

Had Milage Maximezer plug in on truck removed during EGR Delete.

New to Powerstrokes 6 month owner.

Short on cash but will do what it takes to fix it right.

Help, Ideas, Solutions (Explosives do not count)?

Will only buy Ford: Since the Great Depression and this recession Ford is the only Motor Company that has not taken a bail out!!!

did you delete the valve too? pull it and take a look.
did you check the outlet on the turbo and see if you have a failed oil seal?
other then the smoke does it run fine?

Cleaned and reinstalled egr valve. Per instructions. Did not see any more oil than is present on air side. Replaced gasket and lower seal in. Oil line. No visible oil accept on air side. Removed cooler and installed all components per instructions.

Responding from blackberry harder than computor. Puffs when cold smokes when warm

Sounds like it could be and injector failing and/or injector o-ring issue.
Any codes?

When have you changed the Fuel Filters?

There are so many components that can cause it to smoke.

I replaced fuel filters about 2 months ago when o-ring failed on upper filter.

Stinks bad and I think it's a little bit more thirsty than normal. When I drove it to warm it up and top off coolant went about 15 miles and the fuel gauge moved. Burped it twice and level is right at (min line) where I left it.

No codes showing at parts store, but they can not show anything that doesn't trip check engine light. Have not got gauges or tuner yet. That was in the works before the chimney started. Clues pointed to egr cooler(thats where I began) from every one that I talked to, and read about on the different Ford forums.

**Cheezit I did not notice anything on Outlet side of turbo, Does Not have a butterfly valve under the intake elbow. (Empty delphi box no components, wires plug into empty conecters.)

does the exhaust smell sweet or like antifreeze? Or like Diesel?
Did you do the full EGR cooler delete? If not you may have a
bad EGR cooler.
I did the full delete, kept the EGR valve in the intake and plugged in.
I had a 2004 with the same symptoms you are having and it was the EGR cooler.
On my 2005 I took no chances, wasted no time and removed everything.
Take a look at my signature.

Did full GOS Cooler delete, cleaned and left EGR Valve installed and plugged in. Stinks like diesel.

Like scottman70 said you may have an injector gone south.
Please go tomorrow and have it hooked up to a scanner to determine
which injector it is.
Caution: I would not drive it (other than to the dealer or shop), you may
damage your cylinder(s) wall(s) due to washing away the oil, Diesel fuel
is not a very good lubricate.
Keep us posted.....
