I've never heard of a washable cannister type oil filter.

The problem is...oil filters were an optional accessory back then.

These were factory installed, dealer installed, also sold by parts stores.

So...who knows if the one you have is Genuine Ford...or not.

The parts catalog does not list the sizes.

7HA6731A .. Cannister Type Oil Filter Cartridge / Obsolete

Fits: All 1948/53 Flathead V8's 239/256/337 / 1948/51 226 I-6 / 1950/53 254 I-6.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There were two other cannister type oil filter cartridges used with OHV: I-6's & Y Blocks: C1TZ6731B (Motorcraft FL20) & C1TZ6731D (Motorcraft FL147).

Who knows, your truck could have one of these.

MILLER OBSOLETE PARTS in Binghamton NY has all three of these oil filters. You might give them a call (607-722-5371 / 800-546-7278) and ask for measurements.
