Question about crossbracing for '54 bed

Hi all...I took a nice picture of where I'm having a problem reassembling my pickup bedboards, but I guess I don't have enough posts to add attachments...Anyway, I can't figure out how the cross brace that's mounted at the front of the bed is attached in relation to the wood and metal strips...There are two metal sleeves where two 4" bolts mount this crossbrace into the frame, but there is no cutout in the metal bed strip for the bolt to go through, and the bolt head looks like it would be in the way of the metal strip...that is if I'm mounting the thing correctly...Does anybody here know what I'm talking about, or have a pic or a diagram on how this part goes back together?...Thanks..
