Transmission swap Help needed

I am swapping from an E4OD to a T19 and have a few questions.

1: How can I rig the truck to start (untill I can pull all the proper parts for the manual truck? I am guessing that the NSS is on the trans still and the truck wont start without it. Any ideas? does the NSS unbolt from the trans? What other wires need to be connected in order to start the truck?

2: Do I need to replace the steering column to get rid of the automatic shifter?

3: What are the wires coming off the T19?

Thanks
Matt

I believe the wires from the NSS that you need to connect are blue/red. You can get creative and run them to a switch in the cab as an anti-theft deterrent.

I'm not too familiar with the t19, but I would assume the wires were for the reverse lights.

Thanks for the reply

I am going to guess that the NSS is the one integrated into the gear shifter on the E4OD. I didnt even think about wiring a switch on the truck, I will go out tomorrow and buy my self a switch. I would need a constant on/off for the application right? (Makes sense because you are interupting the current that allows the truck to start)

If the wires on the T19 are reverse lights I dont even need to worry about it for now. I didnt have working lights with the E4OD. I will get it fixed before Inspection time though.

Thanks again
Matt

Well I am going to guess and say that the previous owner went and messed with some of the wires for the NSS because Between all the wires the only reaction I get is when I connect 2 red wires together and that just engages the starter with the key in the on position.(not a good sound)

I am going to install a push button starter on floor board near the skinny pedal. The push button switch is also going to have a on off switch on the dash so I can deactivate the push button. (anti theft and to keep from accidently engaging the starter when the engine is on. If I do this I still need to have the key in the on position as well as both switches.

I got the transmission in and everything is bled/adjusted/working properly. I still need to cut a hole in the top plate while its out, get a drive shaft, and relocate the crossmember before I can drive it though.

Anyone have a driveshaft that is 96" long give or take an inch?

Can't say for sure where the wires are on the E4OD, but the wire you are looking for is light blue with a red stripe.

The neutral safety switch on the manual is located under the dash on the clutch pedal, clutch must be depressed to engage the starter.

Hit the local salvage yards for your drive shaft.

Heavy duty F250 or F350 4x4 with a four speed and the same wheel base as your truck going back to 1983.
The heavy duty gasser drive shaft should also fit.

Thanks Dave. I will pull a NSS for the clutch when I get the chance/money. My buddy has a driveshaft out of a ford box van that he thinks might be the right length. So with any luck Ill finish the truck and be driving the backroads getting used to the truck later tomorrow. I am used to driving old International tractors so it shouldnt be to bad for me.

You should see the connector under the dash, it has four wires in it.
one set goes to the cruise control, one set for the netutal saftey switch which actually is called a clutch interlock on the manual tranny.
