Rubber in Fuel Pump Screen

I have been having problems with loss of power in my new to me '92 F350.It would loose power after running for a while and it would have to shut it off for fifteen minutes to get it running well again.I decided it was maybe fuel pump.Forward tank pump is dead but decided to change rear pump first (looked easier).I found the pump screen inside fuel module full of rubber. Was wondering if anyone knows what could come apart and end up here.
