Carb/Timing Issues

I'm working on my '73 Ford F-100 with a 390 and have had the carburetor recently rebuild by a buddy and while he was putting it back on the truck he also noticed that the points on the distributor were worn and told me to replace them before he could do the final adjustments. Well did that, and now I can't keep the truck running for more that a minute or two it cuts out. The timing is all the way advanced, it's the only way it starts. Any help woudl be greatly appreciated! Carb is a Holley 4160

Did you set the point gap? Have you put a light on it to see where the timing is?

Just a few quick thoughts.

I did the same thing. Make sure your # 1 piston is up anf the rotor button is pointed to the # 1 on the distributor cap. If it still does this rotate the motor again till number one piston is up and see where the rotor button is at. You might have to take your distributor out and make it point torwards #1 on the distributor. Dp check your points to. I had a 302 that did the same thing and it drove me crazy.
