Thank you very much for any help

Mufflers need to be at or near the front of the truck with tail pipes exiting at the the rear bumper for less noise. I suspect that if you stayed out of the throttle while inside the neighbor hood, you could keep them off you arse.

I somehow suspect you have brought this on yourself, by revving the engine.

When I was a youngster, I put a split manifold on a '48 Pontiac Convertible's Straight 8 engine and ran the pipes out in front of the rear wheels. I was using Cherry Bombs, (the shortest I could find) and needless to say, I got into the same sort of trouble. Dad had me drill four small 1/8 inch holes equidistant around the ends of my pipes. I inserted two pieces of coat hanger wire through the pipe and it made an "X" across the face of the opening. Then I went to the grocery store and bought two sacks of steel wool balls used to clean pots and pans. Be sure to get the kind without soap in them. I then stuffed a sack of steel wool balls up the pipe and put in the crossed wires which I bent over the ends so they wouldn't rattle and fall out. As long as I kept my foot out of the fan and didn't run the hell out of it, the steel wool balls would stay in the pipes and it ran nice and quiet with a rich "PPppppurrrrrrriiinnnnngggg" sound. If I stood on it, the exhaust would either burn or blow out the steel wool balls and another trip to the store was required to save an @zz whippin' from Dad.....worked Great! Let me know how you make out!!! Good Luck!!

I feel your pain! Mine (with the 428) coughs to life with a mighty roar in the morning -- waking the 'hood. I'm waiting for my first complaint from my elderly neighbor....

Everything I've read says that Magnaflows are quieter than Flowba****ds (as instig8r63 said).

yeah my neighbor is about 4 feet from my drive way ( yes its a trailer park) and you put it best a loud roar sometimes takes a time or two to stay running (i know thats a whole 'nuther prob). anyways what im wondering is if there is anything that i can do besides cutting and welding, i cant really see these people be ok with the noise that would be. and i like my set up oh and like i said im living in a trailer park so im not exactly rich

Balance tube and big steel mufflers. You might be able to add a turbo muffler clone at the end of your existing set up.

You could add resonators to the tailpipes behind the mufflers.

Or, you go the el cheapo route and do what we used to do back in the 1950's to keep the neighbors at bay.

We stuffed steel wool in the tail pipes. It will quiet down the exhaust roar, but will eventually burn off.

Don't use too much, or your truck will sound like a vacuum cleaner.

they make special Y pipes with a valve in it hooked up to a cable. you can yank the selector switch from inside the cab whenever you like and you can choose which pipe you want your exhaust going out. a or b. that way you can have it quiet as a toyota prius or loud as a monster truck

I did similar to what Bill said. I took two empty aerosol cans and cut the nozzle ends off. I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom ends and stuffed steel wool in the cans. I then slid them over the tailpipes and drilled a hole straight down through the can and tailpipe. I took two screwdrivers and dropped them through the holes.

This really made them quiet while I drove in and out by my landlord. I would go down the road, stop, pull the screwdrivers, pull the cans, and go on my way.

If you are not comfortable with cutting empty aerosol paint cans, you can use a one foot length of exhaust pipe that will slide over your tailpipes also. Clamp a piece of sheetmetal over the end and drill your holes in that. stuff with steel wool until acceptable.

If it were me I'd tell them to shove it. Actually I'd prob put some extremely small glasspacks or race bullets or something not at all quiet on my truck. Then also have the cut outs for having to much fun. You might wanna try thos insert cones first or one of the sets of collector discs before getting new mufflers.

I was in this guys same situation years ago. The landlord was god. Anything that happened around my trailer was always my fault. He hated that all of the neighbors liked me and always invited me to go out with them. My truck had glasspacks and the speed limit was 5 mph. You pretty much idled and rode the brake in and out of there. He told me that if I did not quiet my truck I would be evicted. That was how I came up with the can silencers.
Looking back, I think he really did not like that I could help so many of the people that lived there and did it for free. He was a mean miserable codger. I am so glad to be away from him.
