Hi all,fficeffice" />>> >>
This forum helped me troubleshoot my last repair (heater core) - thank you very much by the way. Now I'm looking for a little more guidance. I have a 1998 F250 pickup with about 130K miles on it. I have noticed in the last week or so the automatic transmission is not downshifting very smoothly. Sometimes not at all (gets very “jerky” like it’s jumping in an out of gear). It is really apparent when I’m on the freeway and start to slow down below 50 mph and then try to accelerate. It is very hesitant to shift out of overdrive and sometimes feels like it jumps in and out before I finally manually override it with the button on the shift lever. The transmission does not seem to be making any sounds out of the ordinary. It is very smooth when accelerating up through the gears and when I cruise at steady speeds. I only have the problem when it tries to shift down a gear when accelerating or under load.>> > >
I have not changed the fluid since I bought the truck used 3+ years ago but was told at that time it was replaced. I also did not check the fluid to see if it smelled burnt. It’s never leaked any fluid either. >> > >
What should I be looking for and how can I narrow down the possibilities? Any help is much appreciated.>> > >
Thank you,>>
