windshield wiper switch

Hello everyone. I have a 1979 f250 and I had a question. I have the basic windshield wipers with three settings: off, low, and high. I was wanting to put in the style that has the delay in it. Is the delay in the switch? and if it is, is the plug to the switch the same? will it be an unplug and replug change?

The delay is in a separate module that connects inline in the wire harness, not in the switch. You need both the module and the delay switch to work. I recently got a setup off EvilBay for 28.00....

But did your washer pump work after the change?? I am thinking about this up grade too, but not if it is at the cost of loosing my washers.

Works great. My only complaint is the fastest delay speed is still about 5 seconds, would like it to be faster yet.

I just recently did this mod to my 77 that didnt originally have intermittent wipers. Got mine off ebay. The circuitry that allows for delay is housed inside an electrical box wired inline from the switch. Make sure the one you buy has it. Whenever I installed mine, the washers wouldnt work. I did some research and found that all you have to do is take the small two-wire connector loose that you plugged in, turn it around, and reinstall it. Couldnt believe it was that easy, but it worked! This is a great mod for an old truck, makes a huge difference.

You can use an 80-86 delay setup also. All you do is switch the 2 washer wires around in the plastic holder. I have an '84 setup in my '77

Yep, that's correct. I believe mine was out of an 80's model truck. Ebay's a good place to get em too because I looked at em first on Bronco Graveyard and the were super expensive.
