dkf has a good reputation on FTE. dkf has a good reputation on FTE. dkf has a good reputation on FTE.
A 2001 will have the 2V. An easy way to tell is the 2V has black plastic valve covers and the 3V has raw aluminum valve covers.

2005 showed the debut of the 3v V10, along with the TorqShift transmission. So if you have a 05+, you got one. On your 01, you have the 2v.

For the record, especially when it gets dicey with figuring out the E-series...

PLASTIC VALVE COVERS? 2-valve

ALUMINUM VALVE COVERS? 3-valve

2-valve implies 4R100 4-speed auto - EXCEPT I believe in 2005, the 2-valve was available in the E-series with the Torqshift. The Excursion kept the 4R100 for 2005, it's last production year.

3-valve implies 5R110W 5-speed auo
