dip stick location

I recently pulled a core engine from a '75 van. The dip stick came from the oil pan. The hole just above the drivers motor mount has been plugged. Since the pan dip stick is broken off, I don't want to have to buy a new one. The engine I am currently using has the dip stick in the block, and I thought I would covert the core/new rebuilt to that location.

Has anyone tapped out the plug? Is it possible, or must it be drilled?

I have an '83 300 six that I pulled from a F150 and it has the dipstick in the block. At the base of the tube it looks like there is a nut, like maybe a threaded collar.Maybe you could get one like that.Does the plug look like it screws out?

The hole at the motor mount looks at first like it is still there. I had to take a wire and poke in it to know it was plugged. The wire went in about 1/2". It was covered with oil so I couldn't examin it closely. I'm hoping it is a simple insert popped in there at the factory that can be tapped out from up inside the block. When it is clean from the hot tank I'll know more.

I found two like it at the junk yard, so it's not some backyard plug job.
