but what it doesn't say is the TQ! Also you can have as much as you want but if the truck is not rated for better towing and payload what is the point?

Yep, I know it. Plus it's got a Dodge wrapped around it. I guess I'm just a sucker for big numbers.
Eh, big deal. Dodge had a 5.7L that produced much more than the 5.4 modular, but guess who still sold more trucks. Power is nothing without control and durability, and that's why Dodge will always be trailing behind Ford and Chevy. Only thing I like about them is the diesel engine that they outsource for. Besides, if I really wanted a Cummins that bad, I'd just go find a Sterling Bullet.

I think for the most part their whole engine lineup is always up ahead of the pack. It's just the rest of the truck that is less than reliable.
I would disagree. They may put up big numbers, but I don't believe the reliability has been proven, nor the real world data. I think the 5.7L Hemi puts up similar numbers to the V10, but the V10 still blows it away every time when it comes to actual towing or doing work. Krewat posted something about how his nephew had a Hemi and he did the quarter mile with him.
Look at it this way, which would you rather stake your life on? A 5.4L or a Hemi 5.7?

Either or. I had a 98 Dodge with the 318. Supercharged it with a Powerdyne kit. Held up great, but I blew the tranny. Had an 01 Ram with their V10. Worked it very hard and never put a dime into the motor. My wife currently has a Hemi in her 08 Grand. Knock on wood not one repair to date in either the motor or anything else. I'm sure that just jinxed me.... Do I think Ford is a much better product? YOU BET. Have I found any other brand to be total crap? No. I've bought 6 new cars in the last 11 years. All have had their issues. None that I've had to stake my life on though....
does that read like the engine isnt even going into the 1/2ton RAM ???
which strikes a even more relevant question..if dodge is building a new BIG gasser for their heavy truck line what does that say about Diesel as a "must have"...
be curious to see how many dealers actualy stock a BIG gasser heavy duty truck...

Probably as many as stock the V10 unfortunately. I'm thinking it's only a HD option as far as the 1/2 ton thing goes.
