Need fuel pump advice

I've got an '87 F250 with the dual tanks. I'm getting ready for a major tank removal and cleaning and I have a couple of questions about the fuel pumps. This truck has the low pressure intank pumps with the separate high pressure pump out on the frame rail, and I would like to get rid of the intank pumps. (1) Will the truck run without the low pressure intank pumps? (2) What can I replace the pumps with that will let me get them out of the tanks? (Since I have other vehicles with electric fuel pumps outside the tanks only, I'm sure there's something that will work). Any information or advice that you can give will be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S.- I know that the tank switching is affected by the pressure from the intank pumps, but I believe I can deal with this in another way.

you would have to run a high performance fuel pump. you can click on my name and search my threads and see i basically asked the same thing to a certain extent. you have to have a bare minimum on the front tank of 35PSI, and the rear is just a tad bit lower. unless your just wanting to do away with them, its almost as cheap to just replace them to be honest. i was wanting to run a fuel cell and get rid of my tank all together is the only reason i am and will be running a " in-line "
