Ok, maybe a stupid question.... but is there anyway that these parts could be original to the truck?

I know, for a fact, that the rear bumper is not original. This one was put on to replace the one that was ripped off of the frame.... the guy was pulling a trailer that got away from him.

the bed does not have the rear marker light on the side and has the big reflectors near the bottom, i know it could a few different years but it is an earlier bed, meaning its not just the door from a 69 that is on the truck. i would be interested in the VIN off the frame, but that is just my own curiosiety nothing really important...

Thinking the Government stimulus plan is working is like thinking that taking water form the deep end of a pool and dumping it in the shallow end will raise the water level of the pool.

Front end colision would explain the grill. Unless, there were any very late year model trucks that came with a '70 grill and at some point someone put in newer inserts. A little far-fetched for sure.

That's not a 1970 grille.

1970 plastic grille inserts (right & left are the same) have an egg crate pattern, the anodized aluminum 1970 grille frame is 1970 only.

1971/72's use the same anodized aluminum grille frame, but it's not the same as 1970.

The 1971/72 plastic grille inserts are year and right/left side specific.

No such thing as a 1969 F100/350 coming from the factory with a 1970 grille.

1969: There were THREE different grilles.

Standard Cabs have a painted steel grille, the same as 1968 Standard Cabs.

Custom Cabs have an anodized aluminum grille, the same as 1968 Custom Cabs and 1968 Rangers.

1969 Rangers: The anodized aluminum grille is 1969 Ranger only.

The center horizontal bar is dished inwards, and in that dish, it's painted red.

1967/69: The parking lamps are in the grille, directly below the headlamps.

1970/72: The parking lamps are below the grille, mounted on the stone shield.

btw: 1967 grilles are 1967 only. Custom Cabs/Rangers have an anodized aluminum grille, The Standard Cab's grille is painted steel.

Thought it was pretty far-fetched. What are the differences, OTHER THAN THE OBVIOUS GRILLE INSERT, between the '70 and '71/2 shells?

The 1970 grille shell (DOTZ8200D) has 4 brackets per side, 2 uppers, 2 lowers to attach the two inserts, which are the same (DOTZ8150B) right/left.

These brackets are part of the shell itself. The grille shell has a different shape (than 1971/72) where these inserts attach.

Because the shape is different, you cannot install 1971/72 grille inserts into a 1970 shell, and vice versa.

If you bought a new 1970 grille shell back then from a FoMoCo dealer, the grille inserts came with it. They were also sold by themselves.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.
D2TZ8200A .. Grille Shell (replaced D1TZ8200A) / Fits: 1971/72 F100/350.

D1TZ8150A .. Right Grille Insert / D1TZ8151A .. Left Grille Insert.

Fits: 1971 F100/350.
---------------------
D2TZ8150A .. Right Grille Insert / D2TZ8151A .. Left Grille Insert

Fits: 1972 F100/350.
---------------------
Then there's this little darlin' =

1971 (only) Rangers/Rangers XLT's have a thin anodized aluminum horizontal mouldling (D1TZ8419A) that spans the grille, clips onto the 1971 grille inserts at the center.

The clip holes came drilled out on the factory installed truck grille inserts, had to be drilled out on the service part replacement grille inserts.

Glad I asked. I was eyeballing the shell from a truck with missing inserts. I certainly will pay close attention now.

You VIN on the frame should be on the passenger side top of the frame just forward of the front cab mount.

Well I've got a '71 with all '68 grill. It's the all steel one with horizontal bars. Some small wrinkles but all there. Rattle can black too, LOL! Are '68 and '69 the same? If so wanna make a trade? I'll send pics if you like.
