Exhaust manifold/up pipe replacement

I have a pretty bad exhaust leak coming from where the exhaust manifold and the up pipe to the turbo Connect. Black soot everywhere, truck sounds and runs HORRIBLE. How Hard and complicated is this? and where can I get the parts at a decent price?

I had a similar problem and found all my piping to be miss aligned and loose. After straightening this out and tightening the exhaust manifold bolts it got a lot better. As far as replacing the pipe not sure.

You might as well get rid of that thing. You will never be able to fix that problem!
Just bring it over to me you don't need that headache anymore. Seriously!

If you decide to not let me have it then I will try to help...I guessssss....

The uppipes may actually be loose like said earlier. Chances are the uppipe donut gaskets are bad too. They are what seal the top part of the pipe to the turbo collector. If it is leaking down at the exhaust manifold too then you really need to take out that pipe and inspect it. It seals to the manifold just metal to metal and if it is rubbed thru or has a gouge in it it will continue to leak even after you tighten it.

I will trade you a 2000 Excursion 7.3 psd for that ratty old worn out truck.LOL

Check with Clay at RiffRaff. Not sure if he has them for the OBS, but he's got a ceramic coated exhaust manifold exchange deal for the SD's. I think
he can get you bellowed up pipes too that would eliminate the stupid donut gasket.

The manifolds should all be the same for the OBS and the Super Duty's. You can move up to the bellowed up-pipes if you convert over to the later turbo set-up as well.

LOL been a while since I been on here last.. I'll try using your advice allthough for some reason seems like its bent some kind of way I wish I could take some pictures. Its been doing this a while but I was patch fixing it because I couldn't afford to have my truck down for any length of time but It always failed no matter what I tried .. so since I just bought my new truck this week I'll finally have the time to tear it apart and fix it right.. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.. I'm pretty sure its gonna be tough the trucks almost 15 years old and its from the midwest. Thanks again guys for your help

Neal your never going to give up on getting that damn truck are you? LOL ever since I bought the Silverado a few days ago I get calls constantly asking if I'm selling it Truck just has way too much history and sentimental value for me to ever think about selling, its just gotten to the point to where its getting old and tired and Its time for me to tear it down and build it back up to the Bad ass road queen it used to be.. But if I ever do decide to get rid of it You'll be the first to know
