if you had $2k to spend at ATS on a stock truck...

So my 02 Excursion is pretty much stock. If you had $2k to spend at ATSdiesel, (and only ATS diesel) what would you start with?

exhaust
gauges
ATS turbo housing
???

I normally only drive the Ex if there is bad snow, summer time towing the 30ft camper, or when I need to haul 7 kids somewhere...

What would be the best bang for my buck?

Thanks!

I have no clue who ATS diesel is, so I hope I dont list anything they dont carry..

1st, Gages, do the pyro, trans, boost. This will establish a baseline.
2nd Exhaust, I dont know enough about Co winters if they use salt or not, but recomend a 4" stainless, turbo back,
3rd ( can be swapped with 2nd) Intake.. DO NOT DO THE K&N DROP IN, but I would do an intake
4th valve body
5th, DP, PHP, Tony Wilderman chip.. ( I would go DP, oh wait, I did )

Have Fun.. Others here are more qualified for an answer.. but here are some suggestions.

The best bang for your buck will not be ATSdiesel. But if you will only buy from them, I would think you have the right idea of where to start with mods.

EDIT: I don't understand why you are asking this, looking at your sig.

There is a guy selling his ATSdiesel credit that he has. I have seen a few posts about ATS and their built trannys and the turbos, but not much else...

I have an idea of what mods I WANT to do, but if ATS has certain products that would be more beneficial to me, or a better use of that credit, then that's what I would want to do.

You are right though, I have an idea of what to get first when it comes to modding. Mostly I am looking for advice from people that have bought ATS products.

Thanks!

I do know the ATS housing will cure turbo surge if you have surge. But a WW will also do it on most trucks. If you get a good deal on the credit, then it may be worth it.

I really like my ATS housing. I use it with the stock wheel on my van turbo. I'm driving the p!$$ out of it to about 35psi, and never get surge. It's definitely a solid fix if you have surge, but I think I'd only do the ATS if 1) you tried a WW and still get surge or 2) you're going into bigger injectors and want a solid performer up to 35psi (on a van turbo -- stocker will only be reliable to about 30psi if you put a 1.0 exh housing on it).

I also get their catalog in the mail every now & then, and they seem to be a bit high on other stuff, IMHO.

First of all, I saw your location. I graduated from Douglas County High in 1994. I was just home this summer.

Secondly, when I saw the title of your thread, my initial thought before reading anything was, buy $2000 worth of ATS, sell it on CL or fleabay for $1500 and spend the $1500 at Riffraff http://www.riffraffdiesel.com .

Honestly, you are going to get twice the results for half the money somewhere else. ATS does some things pretty good but its a bit overpriced. For even $1000, you could get a 4" MBRP exhaust and a DP. @ $1500 throw in gauges, HPX, FRx, and an AIH delete.

Couple of guys here at work have ATS trannies and are not happy with them. They have been in and out of their shop a few times with less than favorable reviews of their customer service. Plus some of the breakage wasn't covered under warranty because of mods done on their trucks.

ATS is a horrible company as far as the way they treat their customers. Over priced and on some products they are defiantly not up to par.

Don't know anyhting about ATS except their housings and tranny's, I vote for Clay at Riffraff Diesel and some of our sponsors here, nothing like keeping it the family, good luck.

On a different note be very careful of buying something like this. Unless you personally know the guy and you can verify through ATS that it is indeed good, it could be a scam. If he is willing to sell you a 2K credit for less than face value I would ask why? Why not buy stuff and sell it off? Make more $$ that way then reduced price on the credit.

BUYER BEWARE!
