Load range D w/ 3 ply sidewalls. Ok?

would a load range d be ok if the tire has 3 ply sidewalls? i've been looking at the firestone destination mt's in a 285 70 17. although they are listed as an e on the site, they are actually a d with a 3195lb load rating. my truck weighs 6700lbs, the most i tow is a trailer that holds 3 4wheelers, and i occasionally have a load if firewood in the back that is never mounded higher than the bed rails. would this tire be ok?

should be fine for your purpose. Did you actually look at the tire and verify its rating?

I have those tires in a 265/70/17 E rating. when I was shopping I looked at going to a 285 but the price difference was huge. I got mine buy 3 get 1 free. total mount/balanced/tax right at $800.00

I think these tires are great, very little road noise and great traction

for what it's worth...
the d's WILL be more 'squishy' than comparable E's....

Somewhat like your knee with one less ACL tendon

will feel less stable if you are used to load range e's ....

I was looking at those in the E rating. I wanted something for snow and mud, but I am somewhat concerned about noise and wear. If you get them let us know how they work out.

A buddy of mine as the D rating on his 150 and loves them. I road with him and the road noise is too bad its there but if you have an exhaust or something it is not annoying at all. I have the 285/75/16 but in the AT's on my 350 and they are an E load tire and i love them
