2002 F150 XLT FX4 brake question

I recently purchased a 2002 F150 XLT FX4. It has 4-wheel disc brakes. I have never owned a vehicle with 4-wheel disc brakes before...

I just put all new brake pads and rotors on it.

Sometimes I get a very full pedal and sometimes I don't. The pedal doesn't feel "spongy" to me. Since I can't simply adjust up brake shoes in the brake drum (b/c it is 4-wheel disc), do I just need to bleed the brakes?

Or is something else going on?

You could also have an issue with your master cylinder...

From the sound of it, sounds like the beginning stages of a brake booster/master cylinder failure.

First step would be to bleed the brakes first though. It's a simple and inexpensive remedy (if that's the case). At worse, you'll lose a few dollars.

What is the next stage of the master cylinder failing? Will it get worse?
I've replaced several master cylinders but never had one fail. I replaced them b/c they started to leak or what not. Never had a booster fail.

Are they difficult to change on this?
