Mine has no delay, nor do our Cummins equipped trucks at work.
If this was an E-throttle issue, I would expect to see all makes affected, or something about how Toyota's is different from the others.
I have yet to read an article listing all the factors or possibles, and telling what has been done to test those, and which are eliminated and which are still suspect. Of course, that's a bit dry, and you get more viewers/readers with the wild ride stories...
FWIW, I have disliked electronic throttles since they were first used in cars. There is yet to be one on a gas engine that does not have some delay. Why they can make a 15liter diesel respond instantly, and not a 1.8l gas engine is a big mystery.
I'm sure it has a lot to do with emissions. If you slam a regular throttle plate open, you have to fatten the mix WAY up to keep it from hesitating. If you crack the throttle plate open slowly, you don't need to dump a huge amount of fuel in, and it doesn't spit out loads of hydrocarbons and other fun stuff. It could even have to do with catalytic converter longevity.
Because why bother doing all the fly-by-wire stuff if it wasn't for emissions?

What about the oil line problem on the Avalons? Toyota knows that the lines are rupturing and dumping the oil out. But they will not do a preventative repair and will deny any warranty claim if the vehicle is past the mileage or date limit.

Remember the camshaft failures, bed hitting the cab, failing tailgates on the new tundras?.....Shh, be very, very quiet..........Now the older tundras are rusting in half just like the tacoma's did..............Yeah, Toyota quality.......No better than anyone else, but FAR better when it comes to hiding faults and recalls.

[quote=JoeCool6972;8105336]First off, I would like to say as a former technician I know how sorry they are in admitting fault and trying to blame the customer for THEIR problems. We had a TSB for Oil gelling in the heads on engines. They sent out a TSB to US, not customers to remove and clean the heads. And how to blame the consumer saying they did not change the iol properly. HOWEVER, the real problem was the heads oil return holes were too small, and the oil just sit there. Usually the fix was customer pay if out of warranty... BS!

What car maker sends TSB's to customers? Safety and customer satisfaction recalls, not TSB's. Do you have anything to back the claim about "And how to blame the consumer saying they did not change the iol properly."
I have nothing against Toyota but it seems like news about their cars recalls never reach a widespread audience. Now an american car maker, holy crap every soul in the country will know about it.
