Do you keep it in town all the time, or does it see some highway/interstate mileage? Mileage that low sounds like it's all city driving...or dragging a trailer full time. Here are the numbers from my '04 F250:
When was the last time the filters were changed? And I'm speaking of all of them, the only one that has a light on it is the air filter, and it's tripped by the filter minder...don't replace unless the minder is tripped. Is it running rough, hard to start or allot of smoke out the tailpipe? Any other details you can give other than poor mileage?
You can actually be throwing codes and not throwing any lights on the dash. Problem is, if you are throwing codes and no lights you will actually need a "professional" scan tool and not the tuner/code readers that most people use. Mainly because the codes that don't trip the light are manufactor specific codes.
when i first got it it would throw some black smoke when starteded or when i punched it. I have been running fuel additive and trying to buy from quality gas stationonly for fill ups. gutted kitty and piped, there was residue in muffler and kitty. smoke has stopped but fuel mpg just keeps going down?? 1st srvice is due in 1k. of me owning it.
What would be normal fuel economy at an elevation of 6700 feet and running up and down hills? I would love to get 17-19 mpg as an average but I am only at 15 with a mix of highway and city driving, and as I said before it is rather hilly where I live.

15 is very respectable if your doing allot of mixed driving. When mine stays in the city, my mileage hits the gutter around 13 mpg. I'm not sure how much the elevation would effect these trucks since they're turbocharged and have electronic injection control. That's an interesting question.

Elevation I would imagine would affect the turbo as we would be talking about thinner air higher up in elevation. This isn't my strong point, but that's what my reasoning would be. Thinner air, max boost in that area would be less for those then it would be with denser air.
I average 12.4 mpg with 1 hour of idle and 130 miles highway a day in my f350. the best i got was 14.5 on the interstate with no trailer and 70 mph. new flash on new ficm, filters all on time, and tried evey additive i can find with no improvement. i now blame new ulsd after talking to fuelman who delivers my bulkfuel.
is this hand calculated or displayed mpg? mpgs can vary dependant on roling resistance, tire/wheel weight etc. also speed plays a huge role as does tire size.

I'm getting 20 on the highway and 15 in the city. And I'm sure it's the higher elevations that is lower the MPG on his truck...I know it will with a regular fuel vehicle...that's why the are tuned a wee bit differently at those heights. But you'll never get the mileage ya want at that level.

I'm in the same boat. I bought my truck a little over a year ago and had been averaging 17 or so mpg highway, 15 city. Now I'm lucky to get 14.5 hwy and 13 city. I have no codes, no smoke, runs great, has great power, but poor mileage. I changed the fuel filter about 1 year ago and have put about 10k miles on it. It is also time for an oil/filter change. Should changing the oil/filters and fuel filters make a difference in mileage? If not, do I need to have it flashed at Ford? Does that cost anything?
Thanks for the help!

I live in northwest Oklahoma, with elevation at around 2500 to 3000 feet. I hand calculate every fillup, factory tire size, 65 mph on two-lanes and 70 on interstate. I just figured I got one of those trucks that just got bad mileage no matter what, but I still love my truck.
