What is decent oil pressure for a broke in warm 351W?

Hey guys, got a question for ya. In my 89 Ive got the 5.8L. When its cold, the oil psi reads roughly 55-57psi oil (mechanical guage) But as I drive it and things warm up, the pressure steadily drops to only about 13psi at idle (800rpm) and around 25-30psi at 2k rpms. Is this normal? The engine has a brand new stock oil pump 3 years ago, and has roughly 110k mi on it. I try not to let the engine rev over 5k rpms when im off road, but it has happened a time or two. So yeah, is this normal, and would I be safe modifying the top end, or should I hold off and wait until I can get a complete rebuild before doing anything up top? Thanks for the help, Ill try and answer any questions best I can!

airharley is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
According to all the ford factory manuals I have read, at 1200 RPM the oil should be 10 PSI minimum. Scares the heck out of me sometimes when I have to state the factory specs. Over time all the bearing surfaces wear and increase the amount of oil that flows out. Even .005 extra clearance on all the bearings equals a lot of pressure loss. You can also change the oil pump to help combat some of the wear in that as well and recover some of the oil pressure if you are willing to extend the time before an engine rebuild.

Well, what are you going to do? Use your truck like it's twenty years old. Fix things when they break, maintain things to keep them from breaking. It might go another 20 years before the crank/bearings let go from low oil pressure. Wait and do the whole thing all at once.

Use this ford part as a replacement: M-6007-C392RT

10 psi per 1000 rpm is plenty.

you should have about 35 psi at 2grand, you could take off the oil pump and clean the pickup or just get a new one if your concerned it may be in the pump but even with a new pump you will probally be using your old pickup so make sure its clean, ( you wouldn't believe the crap they can hold, mine was nasty).
