Trans help

I have a 5r110, its in an 06 F350 with a 5.4. It takes a very long time to go into gear, forward or reverse. Sometimes it will engage gear and then very quickly jump out of gear and back into gear again. Is my tranny going, or is there some kind of vac line that maybe has a leak? I dont know to terribly much about these trannys.

The catch!! . . . I just changed both filters the other day, hoping to stop this problem as it has been going on since i bought it. When changing the filter in the pan I did not look at the old one first, and just installed the new one. I forgot to remove the old seal or gasket type o-ring and the new filter slipped up in the hole and there were 2 rings. It worked just beautifully! in n out of gear, instantly at any temp. but feeling a little iffy about not doing the job right, after noticing the old filter missing its gasket (after the job was completed) I decided to tear it back out and pull one seal or o-ring back out. And I am now at my current dilema, which is the condition of the trannys' shifting before the filter change. I dunno . . .
