light duty F250 trans is it the same as a superduty?

i smoked my trans in my 2000 250 sd about 2 months ago and its still sitting in the yard waiting for me to save up enough money to get it rebuilt. a buddy of mine just told me he had a trans that will work in my truck that came out of a 2003 light duty F250. they both have 5.4 so i asume it will work but will it be as strong? i already broke one and was planing on haveing a shop make me one like they use on the pullin trucks but moneys tight and i miss driving my truck. right now im driving a 84 s10 with a 5in flat top stack with a rain cap. its a piece and im tired of it. any help would be great. thanks.

First off, there is no such thing as a "2003" LD F250. So you need to verify what it really is. There was an F150 7700, which "could/should" have the proper transmission, but I don't know for a fact that it will interchange.

There is no such thing as a light duty / heavy duty. Ford stopped that with the 1999 model year and the revisions to the line. If anything, you need to see what shape the other tranny is in, what engine it was mated to, and what engine you got.

Listen man. If it has a 5.4L Modular Triton V8, it is in no way shape or form, a Light Duty. You could not get that engine before model year 1999.

Before the superduty came out they have a f250 that was the same body as the f150. continued on with the f150 7700 afterwards. I don't know about the transmissions though

I don't know, I don't care. I think my 02' might have seven. I don't go by lugs. All I know, is if that truck has what you are saying it has, it cannot be in any way, shape, or form, a "Light Duty". Period.

I honestly could care less, no offense to you. I never go by the type of vehicle by the lug count. But Milwaukee, that truck is interesting. I've never, ever seen one of those before, EVER!

they are rare but they are out there. im pretty sure that it has the same tranny that is in the f150. you will need the 4r100 id check to see if they have the same trans pan that would be a dead giveaway
