Larger tire okay on factory rim?

I drive a '99 F-150XL 2WD regular cab with the original steel rims. Right now I have Michelin P255/70R16 tires mounted. I have a friend who wants to give me a set of used (20,000 miles) Michelin P265/75R16 tires. Nothing wrong with them, regular highway tread.

Question: If I mount them on my rims, can any of you think of fit or interference issues? (or anything else?)

They will fit on your rims and truck just fine. They are taller so you will be travelling faster than what the speedo reads. It will probably be 3-5mph at 60 mph.

It'll work for you, no problem. And it'll fill your wheel wells out a tad bit. You probably won't notice any adverse effect on gas mileage either. I think you'll like it.

Thanks fellas.

They're not quite the right size, but I can't turn down a free set of tires.
