Radio Controlled Guys!

Anybody know anything about tuning an electric RC Truck?

I have an old Traxxas Hawk II that I recently brought down from the attic. Years ago, I put a 27 turn hand-wound motor in it (not sure if that means much). It has the original speed controller, Traxxas XL-1. I have two different gears for it... both 48 pitch, one is 78 tooth, the other is 68 I think. What's the difference? They are both the same diameter, so I don't know what difference the tooth count makes.

Also, all three of my batteries were trash, so I went to the hobby store to get a new one. Little did I know that 15 min. chargers aren't made anymore, nor are they recommended. So, I had to buy a new charger. It's a Dynamite Vision Peak 2, is this any good? I also bought two batteries for $50, they are 3000mah 6 cells.

So, a few questions... I how can I make it go faster? The guy was telling me that I could get a 7 cell battery and it would make it much faster, but he cautioned me that the transmission may not like it.

Also, which gear spur should I use? What's the difference?

Any other suggestions?

BTW: I now get about 15 minutes of run time with each of the new batteries... which doesn't seem bad to me. I also strapped my GPS to the truck, and it seemed to hang around the 14 mph mark... I'd like to see around 25 or 30... is that possible?

trust me, it wasnt 4.5 hp.

im major into RC. every nitro guy knows that motors are wayyy overrated. that 4.5 is probably more like 1.8.

heres my baby.

Okay... so help me tune this thing.

I know it's not nitro... but at least suspension and gearing stuff should swap over... right???

Any idea how to get the rear-end aligned? It's toed in a lot... but there doesn't seem to be an adjustment for it.

If I'm not mistaken, that's an '04-08 F150 body on that nice truck.

That counts.
