slow rising oil pressure 6.0 Diesel I'm scared!

Hello
Oil pressure is slow to rise after first start of the day? It takes about 3 Long seconds and it jumps to life but in that time I'm worried and can hear the engine tone change!! Oil and filter is about 1000 miles old, no leaks(external) and is on dip stick. 80,000 miles.

Anyone hear of check valves on 6 liter oil pumps going bad??? 1st step is going to be oil and filter change again!

Thank you

I think there is a check valve in oil filter assembly. I know you have to release the oil filter B4 you drain the oil so the valve opens up and drains the oil back into the pan. This may be your problem.

Did you change your own oil? I have heard of non ford filters causing problems. Is your filter an Ford filter? Also there is a top and bottom to the oil filter. I don't know if you can install it upside down.

Just some things to check.

I'd check the oil filter as well - make sure it's the correct size and preferably Motorcraft. The wrong size filter will not fully depress the valve at the bottom of the housing which can allow oil to drain back and will take a few seconds of cranking to get the oil back into the housing and pressure to build. The other item is the oring on the filter housing cap which if torn can allow air to get into the system. A simple place to start is just make sure the cap is tight as well. Good luck - hope it's something simple.
