1956 y block 272 acceleration problem

motor bogs down when pressing on accelerator and holding the accelerator where the bog started it will catch up and reach rpm.
it is also hard to start after it sets a bit .
could a weak fuel pump cause these symptoms.
the unit i have is 1956 f600 272 cu. in holley 2bbl carb.

installed:
1 . power valve
2. carb bowl and meter plate gaskets
3. points are good
4. vaccumm lines - no leaks
5. fuel level in the bowl is just below the check hole.

man if anyone has ideas i wolld really like to hear them thanks alot

I had that problem on my 55 f100 and found out my battery was giving out. At low RPM it was ok but when I stepped on it it would start to bog. I had sears test the battery and they said it was bad. I replaced the battery and the problem went away. Good luck.

accelerator pump... or the one-way check valve in the cavity for the bog...

hard start after setting could be power valve diaphram

I agree with ghall, I just went through this with my 292 with a 2 bbl. I put in a new accelerator pump and made sure all the linkage was set right and tuned the timeing to be perfect and when I hit the gas, I go!!!!
