Well, after takin my daily driver out a couple weeks ago, Ive gotten the itch REAL bad. Finally couldnt take it any more, and pulled my 89 outta storage to have a little end of the summer fun before shes put down for good. Nothin to spectacular, but I am proud to say that the 89 was able to get farther in than my 95 was, and theyre both on 33" BFG ATs I had been kinda worried that my dedicated off road truck wouldnt be able to get as far as my poser dd On to the pics!
So, like I said, i know its not much, but you have no idea how good it felt to finally get back behind the wheel after havin it sit for the last 2 months. So lemme know what ya think!

Looks like a lot of fun!
It's always a good day to get out and wheel!
I wish I got out one last time before winter.
Have you ever gone to any organized trail rides?
I would look at upgrading your front two points.
- Those in the picture on the front bumper are not made for extraction.
I'm the trailmaster for a club that has a couple open events in WI.
Thus I am one of a few guy's who can do a safety inspections at the event.
I would fail your truck because of the two points, and not allow you into the event. Yes, I'm a stinker on safety and go too far for a few... but it's all for the safety of everyone.
Well now you get to go run in the winter. Winter wheeling is the best IMO. Snow. Or lots of rain. Its pretty great.

Haha I can relate. I actually took my DD to wheel a few weeks ago. All in all, it did not go well. Ended up knocking a tire off the rim within 10 feet of the beginning of the trail.
All I could think was.. "My F-350 could have done this easy..."
And afterwards.. "My F-350 could have recovered this in two seconds..."
Wheelin' a DD really makes you miss meaty tires and a winch.

Nope, never been on any trail rides. Would love to go on one, but dont normally have the extra cash for spare parts and fuel...
And as for my front D rings, Ive used one or the other more than once to pull me and others out, I dont know why you would fail them, but they are plenty strong.

And why would you fail him because of that? Its not like you HAVE to be recovered from that.
Because those Weld On Anchor Rings are not made for extraction.
Those would be the first thing someone would grab, as they are quick and easy.
My club, and MANY other also don't allow trail ball hitches at an event for the same reason. I've seen people have to take them off to pass tech.
If you take nothing else away from this article, know this: EVERY time you mount an operation to recover a stuck 4x4, be it by winching, jacking, yank strap or whatever, you are playing with lethal force. The damage caused by equipment failure, or improper operation, can and WILL maim and kill people. NEVER underestimate it. There is a line in a movie that expresses it best. I forget to what it was the speaker was referring, but he may as well have been talking about any piece of recovery gear - particularly the winch and wire rope. He said "The minute you stop respecting this, it kills you." KEEP THAT IN MIND AT ALL TIMES.
So your saying that you would also not allow me to use the class V hitch Ive got out back as a hookup method either?
As far as my front hooks. I stopped worrying about their strength years ago. Theyve proven it to me time and again.

Show me where I said that...

As an active member in the ORV community, I get to hear and read about reports that involve accidents. Just last year in MN we had a mud truck tow point fail and kill someone. It happens more than you think...
Run it how you want...
just don't be mad if you fail anyones safety inspection. (By the way, you are missing the Best trails in the state if your not going to events)
And if I see you one the trail, don't be mad at me when I will not pull you out... you should of not gone with sub par two points.
My club, and MANY other also don't allow trail ball hitches at an event for the same reason.
^^^^^When you said this, I assumed you ment the hitch on the rear of my truck was no good also.
Yes, the person that welded my bumper together is a certified welder, used a top of the line high powered welder to put it together too, no weak chit. Hes a good friend of mine. Couldnt tell you the strength of the welds though.
Yes, I would also like to hear how you would recommend setting it right. Eventually Ive thought about cutting a hole in the middle and having my buddy weld in a hitch reciever, but that would still just be a welded in piece, and the way your making it seem welds mean no go.
