new guy fuel issue

Hello, everyone i posted once about this 96 f250 i bought, and the truck is great and runs great....i wanna start fixing a few things and id like to start with the fuel pump....i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction....the problem is the front tank doesnt work when i switch to it i see the fuel gage telling me that theres gas in it but i dont here the pump come on when i turn the key, does that mean the pump is shot or could it be the switch or what? i checked all the fuses...thanks for any help you can give me....the only things i have ever done to my trucks is tune up oil changes and brakes...so im not to familiar with gas pumps and so on... thanks again

It could be the pump or:
1. The selector switch.
2. The wiring from the selector switch to the front tank.

If not the switch the more than likely the pump (FDM).

You can test your pumps by grounding a wire in your test plug, its over by your air box attached to the fender, it has 4 leads, only one has 2 wires in it, there both green wires, take a wire to your ground terminal on battery or anywhere really(on truck lol) an ground it to those 2 green wires an with the ignition on your pump should come on. All that does is engage the fuel pump relay. Hope that was helpful.
