Power output 390 1973

What is the power output (torque/hp) for a standard 390 with C6 from 1973? The thing I could find on wikipedia so far is 195hp. Is this correct?

Thanks

Bart

Probably as in 1972 thecompression ratios fell due to no lead in the gas and the rating system changed and the horsepower numbers drop like a stone.

Ah, but technology has moved forword in leaps and bounds. Also the auto manufacturers remembered that the American motoring public likes horsepower, LOTS OF HORSEPOWER. You also need to look at what rpm that 4 banger is making that horsepower. That old 390 was making it's power around 4500 rpm where the 4 banger is turning well over 6000 rpm. Also look at where the engines make peak torque (AKA drivability). The 390 around 2500 and the 4 banger around 4000.
