What do you guys think i should do?

So my check engine light was on...took it the the "zone" and found a leak in my PCV hose.....Fixed that and it ran worse! Found a couple small vacuum lines had holes in them, and fixed that and still ran bad! A new code poped up. P1400 so i bought a new dpfe sensor and it STILL ran like crap(at idle). The hole time the EGR vacuum regulator was making a weird noise( a vibrating noise after i shut the truck off). Soooo the part comes in tom morning and i am gonna replace that, but i returned the dpfe sensor because the truck ran the same way.....Can you guys think of anything im missing? When i replaced the dpfe i disconnected the batt and put it in, conn the battery....started it up drove it did the same thing....any ideas? Should the egr vacuum regulator fix my problem? Thanks all...oh yea proud new owner of a 97 f150 4x4 4.6 single cab reg bed!!!!!

You need to get the exact code(s). Once you have that, you'll get some good recommendations on how to fix.

the codes that were showing before were just emissions leak because my pcv hose was leaking once that was fixed the check engine light was cleared and the truck stalled leaving the "zone" the new code that shows now is P1400ive replaced the dpfe the egr syleniod and still nothing, i also traced the vacuum lines and they all look good

steve(ill) is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
EGR differential pressure low voltage noted---- the new switch might fix that code 1400. I question if you have other problems. 12 year old truck, new to you, unknown history?? I thinking its time to get spark plugs, check COP wires, fuel filter, pull vacuum hoses and check for flexibility/ cracks/ burn and replace, etc...
