My 99.5 PSD has 275k miles on it. So naturally, I have been making a list of things I need to check out on it in order to keep it in good health.
I figure with 275k miles, the gaskets on the up pipes HAVE to be totally shot. But I got around to looking today, and I can't see any soot anywhere on them. Which leads me to believe that they may have been changed out at some point.
Kinda curious if I got ultra-lucky and someone put on the nice up-pipes for me, though.
As a side note, truck runs perfect, makes good power, but I was having issues pulling a 9k-ish trailer up some steep hills on the interstate in west virginia. I was thinking I may have been losing some boost, but I think i'm just used to gas engines and was not keeping the rpm's up enough.
Anyways- if someone has a way to tell the difference between normal up pipes and bellowed ones, it would be REALLY appreciated.
Bellowed up pipes will have bellows at the top as opposed to the stockers which have a smooth finish all the way up. You can see the bellows on the left side of the pipes in this picture. Riffraff Diesel: IH Bellowed Up-pipe Kit
