Universal Gas Tank Sending Unit?

Hello Everyone,
I have a '70 XLT Ranger and it needs a (gas) sending unit. I have found units at DC, BlueOval, etc., but they are pretty pricey.

Is there a less expensive universal sending unit out there....?!

Any response is appreciated.

Thanks,

Shannon

You won't find any quality ones any cheaper. You may wanna try your local Pick N Pull.

Yeah, I think your probably right. However, I went ahead and ordered a $26 unit from JC Whitney. Rollin' the dice........

Ill post the results of whether it works or not.

Thanks for the response, Bobby.

What is the problemo with the sending unit?

Usually, it's just the float, which is made from two pieces of copper soldered together.

Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float slowly settles to the bottom of the tank.

The float (COAZ9202B) is the same for ALL 1957/79 cars/trucks and is available from Ford.

D7TZ9275G .. In-Cab Fuel Tank Fuel Sending Unit / D7TZ9275G replaced C1TZ9275K / Obsolete

The last MSRP of this little darlin' was $108.38.

Fits: 1961/66 F100/1100 / 1967/77 F100/750.

Hey ND,
Thanks for all the PNs. You are very thorough, my friend.
Im a FORD purist when I can afford it. But $108.38 is crazy money for this sender. I'll pass.

Im going to try this cheap-o...it has the correct ohm rating.

ADJUSTABLE FUEL LEVEL FLOAT - JCWhitney

I have had the same one (Doc's Custom Gauges sent to me with gauges) in my '60 for a couple of years and its been alright so far....

Thanks for the feedback!
