Crone is starting off with a positive reputation.
trans fluid in my 78.

I'm fairly sure my 78 f150 has a c4. If I am wrong someone please correct me. It's 4wd if that matters. It's low on fluid and I wanted to make sure I put the right kind into it. I could not find out what it took anywere on google or here! So some one please help! Thank you, Bobby

Lazy K is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE. Lazy K is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I would have thought your trans would be a C6 but easy to confirm. The C4 has 11 pan bolts, the C6 has 17.
The fluid is more difficult. According to my book Type F fluid was used up to 1977 but some applications continued to use it up to 1980.
Look at the dipstick it may say what type of fluid to use. If not then look for a number on the stick. If the number is ESW-M2C33-F or there is no number then top up with Type F otherwise top up with Dexron 2 or 3 fluid.
Hopefully some of the experts will give an opinion.
