Adding overloads

What would be needed to add overload springs?

Would it be as simple as adding the springs and the perches? Rivets are out of the question... How about grade 13 bolts?

I have never heard of grade 13??? but when I replaced the rear spring hangers on a HDF250 and a F350 I used fine thread grade 8 bolts, and never had a problem.

I have my regular rack of springs, then about a 1 inch spacer, then my overload springs then the top plate.... and the perches are riveted to the frame allowing about an inch of travel befopre my helpers hit the rubber pad.

Its not like they hold the rear end in place, or take any torque, just upward pressure when loaded, and that shouldnt be a huge amount either...

benbishop is starting off with a positive reputation.
Yeah you'll need about 2" longer ubolts, the overloads, and the pads. You should be able to bolt the pads on with grade 8 bolts(not sure what size the holes are).

Our 250 has the overloads, and our 350 doesn't, although it looks like the frame already has the holes to bolt on the pads. I'm replacing the spring packs this week on the 350, and adding the overloads. then I'll install the pads whenever I find some.
