Edge attitude shuts off, then truck dies, any ideas?

Driving to work today, was crusing along, all the sudden truck had no power, and finally just died on the highway, looked up and my edge attitude was blank. Put it in neutral, turned the key off, back on, waited a bit, and started it, and it ran fine. Edge is still blank. Truck is running fine. Edge attitude finally came back on, and truck has no power what so ever. Turned key off, neutral again, restart, and edge is on, truck runs fine.

Truck did this 3 times going to work. Checked all the edge connections, and they are fine. One thing I noticed when the edge did come back on and made the truck run like it had no power, turbo boost said 18 or something, but obviously, there wasnt that much power.

I know I need a dp tuner, unfortunately, no pesos right now to do that. Any ideas on what this edge is doing?

Thanks.

I don't know what the problem is, but, I would take the edge out of the truck and see if it happens again. If it don't, I would think there is something wrong with the chip and I would't put it back in the truck.

Save your pesos.

I was reading about the Cam Position Sensor the other day on Guzzle's website. If your Edge isn't the problem, check the CPS. Check out Welcome to guzzle's CPS R&R Web Page<

I had the exact same issue with my Edge with attitude. I never trusted it enough to run my truck in high settings due to likely transmission damage. Always ran it in "stock" setting. I kept it on the truck because I did like the gauges and the handy dandy pod on the dash.

Same problem, truck would just die. Screen went blank, seemed like it would go into limp mode when restarting until the Edge came back to life. I too thought about CPS and went and bought 2 of them. Glad I did because I got 2 black ones ! Didn't fix the problem. I sent the Edge back to the factory, they were nice about it and reprogramed it with the "latest" software and sent it back, no charge. No joy, same problem.

I took it off the truck months ago and haven't had a problem since. My advice is to take it off, leave it off and don't sell it to anybody else. If I hadn't bought 2 black CPS's during that adventure I wouldn't have anything good to say about my experience with the Edge with (bad)Attitude. Not trying to trash Edge, there may be some out there that work as advertised. I know mine didn't and I don't think yours is either.

Thanks for all the responses!

Mine seems to act up when im pulling hard, i.e. under the hood is getting hot, etc.

I havent liked this thing since the day I put it in. Wish I would have known about this sight and the dp tuner back 4 years ago, ugh!

Okay, not to hijack my own thread, but what type of egt probe does the edge use? Im gonna take it all off the truck and buy new gauges, etc, I just want to make sure I get the right kind of probe for the egt.

Thanks again guys!

When I took the Edge off my truck I just unplugged the EGT probe. There is a disconnect for it between the probe and the Edge box under the hood. I don't know what type it is etc.

I plan to put gauges on mine sooner or later and will take the probe out then. I'll replace it with the one that is right for the gauges. I don't think I'd feel comfortable using the one that came with the Edge.

I'm looking for a gauge set that is small and in a "pod" like the Edge console. Who knows, maybe Santa will bring me a set ! Need Boost, EGT, RPM and Trans Temp at least.

Good luck and let us know if taking the Edge off solves your problem.

Thanks.

I like my edge layout, right above the rear view mirror. I may just put gauges up there, non digital, but oh well.

Edge, what a pain in the butt.....

I know how you feel. I'd take it off for a while and see what happens, there's an outside chance it could be something else. I know there are people that have run Edges for a long time and say they have done fine. I'd just about bet the ranch that it's your problem though. Let us know how it does and let me know if you find some cool gauges to replace the Edge gauges.
