problem with car being towd trying to start

Hey everybody.Yesterday I was towing my 91 Toyota tercel.(4spd frtwd) With a blue Mule tow bar.I had key on for steering/e brake off and it in neutral.I was going along for several miles when I made a tight turn. After I came out of the turn. The car started bucking on me.I got out and had a person watch as I moved along. They said the car was trying to start as I pulled it along.Does this mean the cars clutch is weak?? or anybody know whats going on.I'm in neutral.THANKS

Sounds more like it slipped into gear.... if you are in neutral, clutch shouldn't even be in the equation. Have you towed this vehicle before? Does Toyota say this car can be towed 4 on the ground?

If it's in neutral, and you are certain of that, then you need to look further into whether that car can be towed 4-down. If not, it might be because the tranny does not lubricate itself. And that might mean you have damaged the transmission.

Does it drive okay? Go thru all the gears? If so, I'd hook it back up and try once more.....if it does the same thing, it's time to have it checked.....try the Toyota forums.
