Question Not shifting and now horn not working.

My Bronco is starting to go downhill quickly. First the rear spring perch rusted out and the spring is pushing up against the floor. Now is started shifting hard then the thing wouldn't shift out of second can't get above 30mph and horn quit working? 96 with 5.8 any place to start? I moved to Virginia and the Bronco is stuck 7 hours away in West Virginia. I would like to get it ready to bring over here.

Have you checked the transmission fluid? The E4OD is sensitive to fluid level. Is it brown or smell burned? Drop the pan, replace filter, drain torque converter also. It should hold around 16 qts.

Find a big empty parking lot and drive in circles. Hold the horn button and turn the wheel to every possible position to see if it honks. If it honks you need a new clock spring.

If your ignition control module is a black Motorcraft (CCD system) do not replace it with a gray one (Push Start system). The wiring harness is different.
