Exhaust upgrade

I've got an 04 that is all stock, i'm finally getting ready to start upgrading and have been researching exhausts, I'm lean towards the MBRP turbo back 4 inch, but i'm wondering if there is really any difference between the different brands other than price. Any one have any ideas??

4" pipe is 4" pipe no matter the brand. I had the 4" MBRP stuff on my '04 it's top notch and worth the cost of T409. I liked the ability of the MBRP stuff to run delete pipes as I wanted so I can swap in the cat IF I ever move to an state that requires diesel testing.

Just put a Magnaflow 4" SS TB on my truck this weekend - what a difference! Got a great deal on it and it came with the cat delete pipe plus adapters to swap the cat in if needed at some point.

do yourself a favor and compare Mbrp with Magnaflow. I did and found Magnaflow to be the winner because Magnaflow is 100% Stainless and includes the cat pipe and 4" cat adapters, somethings that MBRP doesn't include.

I think the main reason why I went with Magnaflow was the design of the muffler so do your homework and see if you can tell what I'm talking about.

I spoke with John at "Hottexhaust" who had it at my door the very next day.

MBRP does make an off road exhaust that comes with a cat delete. really the only difference between the different brands is the sound. personally i think that it's all personal preference. i have the 4" MBRP turbo back with the cat delete and i absolutely love the sound!

I installed the MBRP installer series 4" TB no cat exhaust last week.$423 from 4 wheel parts. Installed it myself in about 2 hours, everything fit perfectly. The sound is incredible on start up and acceleration. While idling, it produces a jet engine kind of whistle (loud) sound pretty cool and the truck does seem more responsive. 04 f250 Lariat 160K

muffler comparison:

This top picture is the MBRP design.
If you get one of these, The louvers accept the flow as it is a directional design which also disrupts the flow and bounces around (a characteristic you don't want in a muffler) This picture is from the "tail pipe" view. Noticeably a smaller diameter muffler.

The bottom picture of the Magnaflow shows "perf" Stainless pipe. The only difference between the below picture and the 6 liter Magnaflow muffler is the shape (tubular and not an oval.) The Magnaflow will be a much larger diameter than the MBRP design.

Exhaust notes will be significantly different between the two, the MPRB will have more of a brassy sound. The Magnaflow sounds more mellow even twards a stock sound, that is untill you romp the throttle.
