Question Can anyone help?

Hi, I have a 2005 F150 5.4 liter FX4.. I had an incident where a tree fell on my truck, breaking off the passenger side mirror and now I don't have brake lights or turning signals. The insurance company wants to charge me an arm and a leg to fix it. I have tried changing fuses and had no luck. does anyone have any advice for me?

All that was damaged was the mirror? Has the mirror been replaced? If not, did you try disconnecting the wiring harness from the damaged mirror first and then checking the appropriate fuses?

I would hope the fuses would protect the system from what appears to be a short, but I'm not completely familiar with those circuits either.

If you take the door panel off, there is a connector for the mirror wiring that you can disconnect. If there is a short in the mirror, that would cure the short at least.

I agree, but removing that panel is a bit of work. do a search on here "door panel removal" somebody made up a nice "how to" a while back. if it was me and the mirror was already trashed, why not just locate the wires (they must be hanging out now?) on the outside of the truck and just Cut them. then separate and tape them up. that would only work if its obvious that your not cutting into the Truck portion of the harness.
