oil pressure drop as engine warms up.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Dec-02 AT 07:33 PM (EST)]I rebuilt a 351m, ground the crank .010 under, new bearings.
new cam and bearings. New high volume oil pump. When the engine is cold the pressure is at 75psi. The as the engine heats the pressure slowly drops to 0 (#@&*#@). I took the pan off and checked the clearances, they were, mains-.020 cons-.0175 with plasti guage.
I don't think the problem is in the bottom end? Could there be a plug left out after the shop hot tanked the block? Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.

oil pressure drop as engine warms up.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Dec-02 AT 07:59 PM (EST)]Hi Chris welcome to FTE
Wish I could help you with your prob but I don't want to give any suggestions that might steer you wrong on this.
Are these pressure readings from the dash gauge or from a mechanical gauge?
You might also want to try posting this in the engines(351)forum you'll probably get more feed back.
Good Luck !!!

Thanks Nutter. The guage ia a AutoMeter mech. This problem has really got alot of people baffled. Is there maybe a plug in the oiling system left out after hot tanking that could cause the loss of oil pressure? No oil leaks out of the engine, but maybe internally? Thanks.
