Looking for 94/95 Thunderbird SC
Hey guys, my 71 truck is still running, and working ok for plowing now. The 4Spd with granny low is good for slowly pushing along. I have 200lbs in the back and the 2wd is fine for traction here in Toronto where we have had a few dumps lately.
Meanwhile If any of you know of a 94/95 Thunderbird SC which might become availible in the near future, please let me know.
I have a 90SC with 270K, still quite good, but I am looking for a VERY clean 94/95 with low 100K's to upgrade.
Thanks

Survey Question:
Why do you refer to your 4 spd manual having a "Granny Low"?
1st gear in any manual transmission has referred to as Low or the Granny gear for Years.
Why the need to explain your manual tranny this way?
I just need to know why people say it.

I have a quick opinion. Most manual trannies have a first gear that is usable from a stopped position for city driving. The gearing in my old 85 was so low that the "low gear" was all but useless in any circumstance except perhaps for towing. I found myself almost never starting off in 1st because I almost immediately had to shift into second. Many people have mentioned this extremely low gearing but only in reference to Ford trucks. I found it very noticible when I 1st got mine. Another term used a lot around here to identify this Ford phenomenum is BULL LOW. In practice that transmission IMHO is a 3 speed.
Just a thought,
Greg (still shivering in Ontario)
