Lots of good information here...

For internal engine cleaning, Auto-Rx Engine Cleaner Transmissions Motorcycles Stop Leaky Seals Oil Burning Increase MPG Better Gas Mileage Trouble Shifting ARX is neat stuff. It's not harsh. It will take time. Used it in a few vehicles, and I felt that it was a decent investment for the money. Didn't have serious, recognizable issues of sledge or anything, but it's straight forward. Used the HotShot stuff too. I think there are some similarities in the products as they are treating the oil and therefore the HPOP side.

My mileage gets to a low of around 13MPG in the winter. It's not winter yet, so, hell yeah, look for answers.

Brakes. Agreed. Anything that might cause drag. So, hubs and other things too. If you're at 150k, well, she's not new anymore.

I had a '96 7.3 that I lost mileage on. Sometimes sensors can go "flat" and cause problems. I replaced my ICP sensor and got back some of what I lost.

I think I'd like to replace my 285's with 255's. Sounds like that is worth 1 MPG. Tire pressure? How fast do you go? That's a real variable too.

What's an ICP sensor?

The brakes don't hang up at all

I don't change oil, I just add more.

Leaks off the top end about a quart every 1000 miles

Why would brakes have anything to do with it? I would think the less effective the brakes are the better the mileage would be....

No magic bullet???? like a bad O2 sensor or something????
I know whats wrong, all that useful info you gave us... Red is the fastest and gets the best mileage... Ya got the wrong color.. Repaint it Red and you will get 25MPG

A sensor on the driver's side, front. I think ICP is injector control pressure, so it's a sensor for that. There's a barametric pressure sensor and another one or two also. On my '96, it was simple, I could disconnect it and drive without it attached. When the sensor fails, it's value is different than the '96's disconnected value. With the newer stuff, I don't know if that can be done without the OBD getting angry.

I've got a 2000 7.3, with 165,000 and I live up in the mountains in Denver. I average 13 or 14 city and 20 or so highway driving like a grandma.

Bought it with 146,000 miles and the previous owners... I think basically didn't do any type of maintenance. I drove it from FL to OH and I was averaging about 11mpg highway at 65 the day I bought it.

Over the summer months I always filled up with Biodiesel blended 50% or better. After the first 3 or four tanks, and changing the fuel filter after every tank... especially if its B100, (you should have seen some of the gunk that the biodiesel cleaned out) I have managed to increase my mileage a good 3 or 4 mpg from when I got it.

I haven't had any problems running biodiesel... so far. That's my experience.

Any other Bio users out there?

4 years, 120k miles and 3 vehicles all together...not a problem. I run homebrew and commercial B100-B20 and have converted all mine with WVO systems.

Mine does too... I'd love to make my own, but for now I have to settle for the commercial stuff. I can usually manage to find B100 in the summer for about 3.40 a gallon.

One day I'll have an extra few thousand lying around to make my own processor.

I have an 02 7.3 with about 100,000 miles. It has a hypertech programmer, and a k&n filter that i clean whenever it looks too dirty. I also change the oil every 3000 miles, and use Rotella T. I get 19 in the city, and 25-28 on the highway. The hypertech really helps with the mileage., and makes the truck hella fun to drive.

I'm using a DP Tuner and my towing mpg increased from a bit over 9 mpg to around 11 average for a trip and my trailer runs about 8500# average and I usually try to run about 61 on the freeway, even in Ca.. I live above you in Silverdale and ,as you know, there isn't really any way you can go out from here w/o going over some pretty good hills.I believe they're called the Cascade Mountains.I am running about 14 around town and I have gotten as high as 18 pre-tuner on the freeway. I'm thinking of making a run to Portland and back w/o the trailer one of these days for the heck of it to see what that tank would be.
I do have a 4" exhaust, turbo back and an AFE stage 1 that I may replace as it seems as if I'm always having to clean it.I now have a CFN/Pacific Pride card and can get B-20 and will try that this winter to see what happens.

Same set up and the same issue with the AFE... Ordered a 6637 setup from Riffraff, supposed to flow better...
